| I agree. Google Maps, Basecamp, etc. All of these AJAX applications are made by extremely talented individuals and companies. They are setting the bar extremely high technically, and yet the PR campaign implies every developer can do it which is a complete fallacy. |

| I see your point - and actually that's what we're actually working on right now. Making Ajax development really simple for Dreamweaver developers. We'll announce something soon :) |

| Good Point. When I was a young fella we used to use if elses and switch statements. I heard of a lanuage for shell programing called Brain Fu*k that was all symbols. Hahaha http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brainfuck look at the hello world example. Let see some of these Ruby boys bust that out. :o) |

I totally agree with your view but we have to make a difference between Ruby and Rails. I think the rumors behind these technologies refer to the framework. Ruby is not easy to read/write for a webdeveloper, while developing web apps using Rails is simple and fast.
And behind the power of Rails there are talented programmers.
In my personal point of view, RubyonRails is a victory for OO programming in general ! |

Ruby code, seems okay, definitely needs color-coding to read it easier (seperate function from data/paramters).
Rails concept - now that's what I'm excited about! MXK is my favorite Rails-esque tool. ;) :) |

| Re the first post - I don't see anything particularly sophisticated about Google Maps apart from the business effort in getting the actual maps. I don't see AJAX as anything but an ill-defined blogsphere buzzword loosely bundling a variety of old technologies, and with limited applicability, and I don't see Ruby on Rails as much more than that too. I still have not seen anything revolutionary about it, nor the applications built with it. |

| Dude, Why do bright people like ruby? Because it's an awesome language. Things like a clean syntax, closures, an amazingly simple yet effective module distribution mechanism etc. |
