Technote Details :: File extension not allowed for upload

Issue

When trying to upload a file in a page created with MX Kollection 3, I get an error message saying: "File upload error: File extension not allowed for upload". The developer details message is the same.

  • Products: MX File Upload
  • Operating System: All.
  • Server Models: All.
  • Dreamweaver version: any.

Reason

This happens because the file that is being uploaded has an extension that was not added in the File Upload server behavior's allowed list. If the current file's extension does not match any entry in the allowed list, the file upload is stopped, and this error is thrown.

Solution

Open the page containing the File Upload server behavior in Dreamweaver. Double-click its name in the server behaviors tab, and check the list of allowed extensions. If you want to allow more extensions, simply click the Plus (+) button and define them. Otherwise, all files with extensions that are not allowed cannot be uploaded.
