Technote Details :: Can't open CHM documentation on MAC
Issue
The InterAKT products released after January 2005 feature a new type of documentation, in the
CHM format ( Compiled HTML). This documentation is identical with the Dreamweaver help, offering search capabilities, indexing and a more user friendly structure. It is accessible from Dreamweaver, at the push of the Help button found on the
InterAKT interfaces.
Reason
On Microsoft Windows the .chm files can be read without installing any other software, but on MAC and Linux you have to install a special reader. Users cannot view .CHM files on Netscape Navigator or non-Windows platforms such as Macintosh and UNIX because they do not support ActiveX.
Solution
You can find such a reader here for MAC and here for Unix.
In order to make the HELP buttons in the InterAKT interfaces active, we have devised a solution in the form of a .mxp file, containing the MAC documentation. All you have to do is install this as you would with any extension, and thus be able to benefit from some of the the functionalities of the new documentation.
Tip: The new InterAKT products feature a new documentation format: FlashHelp, which you can browse online. Learn more about this.
