Technote Details :: Installing PHAkt 3 (the PHP_ADODB server model)

If you use PHAkt 2 and MX Kollection 2.8.4 or earlier to develop web applications on the PHP_ADODB server model, and you plan to start working with MX Kollection 3, you need to follow the next steps:

1. Read carefully the instructions from this technote, about installing and working with both MX Kollection 2 and MX Kollection 3.

2. Download and install PHAkt 3. You do not need to uninstall your previous version of PHAkt: Macromedia Extension Manager will prompt you to replace the old version:

During the installation of PHAkt 3, if the Macromedia Extension Manager asks you whether to overwrite any files, select Yes to All.

Warning: Please note that the installation of PHAkt 3 might take between 5 and 45 minutes, depending on your current computer configuration. The Macromedia Extension Manager window might appear frozen. Please be patient while Macromedia Extension Manager replaces your older version of PHAkt with the PHAkt 3. Do not kill the installation process or restart your computer.

 

PHAkt should appear in the Macromedia Extension Manager window, along with MX Kollection 2.8.9 and MX Kollection 3.

Using PHAkt3 in websites developed with PHAkt2

If you work on a web site created with MX Kollection 2 and PHAkt 2 and you want to start using PHAkt 3 instead, you need to follow these steps:

1. Delete the adodb folder from your web application root folder.

2. Go to the MX Kollection tab from the Insert bar and click the InterAKT Control Panel icon:
   
   

3. From the InterAKT Control Panel window, select the option "Update includes folder":
   
   

4. In the displayed interface, select PHAkt 3 from the product list, then click the Update selected button:
   
   

After you click OK, the adodb folder will be recreated and everything should work fine. When upgrading to PHAkt 3, you should observe the following limitations:

• The date locales are not available anymore. They can now be configured from the InterAKT Control Panel > Date formats section.

If you want to keep using date locales in your web application, it is recommended that you do not use PHAkt 3 in the same web application.
