Technote Details :: How to upgrade MX Kollection to MX Kollection Professional

I have downloaded MX Kollection 3 Professional but I already have MX Kollection 3 Standard installed and web-sites created using it. What is the right way to install the Professional version and update my older sites?

MX Kollection 3 Professional is fully compatible with the Standard version. This is why there should not be any problems when switching version. Regarding the installation of the Professional version, you should follow these steps:

1. First close Dreamweaver.
2. Remove the older MX Kollection version that you have installed. Do not only disable it, but click the Remove icon. If you are using MX Kollection for more than one version of Dreamweaver on the same machine (e.g. Dreamweaver 8 and MX 2004) you have to first disable it in one configuration and then remove the extension from the second.
3. Double click the mxp file for the Professional version. Follow the installation instructions on screen to complete the process.

As for upgrading an older site, created with MX Kollection 3, follow these steps:

1. Open the site in Dreamweaver, after installing MX Kollection 3 Professional.
2. Open one of the site pages and click the Control Panel icon. Then go to the Update includes folder section.
3. Check all products that you are using on the site and click Update.
4. Now, to update the specific pages to use the latest functionality, edit them and double-click the server behaviors that have been changed. Then click OK without changing anything and the update is complete. Not all server behaviors have been changed, so you should only look out for the following:
5. • The Control Panel > Login Settings interface
   • The Control Panel > Required server libraries interface.
   • Check unique key
   • Delete detail records
   • Show thumbnail
   • Download file
   • Send e-mail
   • Logout
6. If you do not need any of the new functionality on the old pages, skip step 4. Everything will work as before and you can create new pages that use the new functionality.
7. Once you're done editing the changed server behaviors, you can go on and add new features to your site.
