Technote Details :: Working with the latest InterAKT Extensions Dreamweaver 8.0.2 compatible

Learn more about the latest versions of the InterAKT Extensions and their compatibility with Dreamweaver 8.0.2.

Since the upgrade can be troublesome for some of you, we have put together a list of most common questions with detailed answers to guide you along the upgrade process.

• What version of MX Kollection do I need?

Regardless of the Dreamweaver version you are using (2004 or 8.0.2), you should download and install the latest version of MX Kollection, to make sure you are up-to-date. Recent releases may include bug fixes or other enhancements, as stated in the release notes on each product website.

If you have installed the update to Dreamweaver 8.0.2, you must download and install the latest version 3.6.5 of MX Kollection. If you have an older version of Dreamweaver you can use the version that you already have installed, but it is highly recommended that you update.

Before installing the latest version of the extensions make sure that you have closed ALL files within Dreamweaver and that you have no files set to automatically open when Dreamweaver starts. If you leave any files open, the upgrade might cause JavaScript errors.

• I am using PHAkt. Which of the extensions do I have to install?

Starting with the latest release of PHAkt, the downloadable package contains two MXPs. One for use with Dreamweaver MX 2004 and one for Dreamweaver 8.0 and higher. You must install the extension according to the version of Dreamweaver you are using:

• After installing the latest version of MX Kollection I cannot apply a NeXTensio list.

This happens because you have recently updated to Dreamweaver 8.0.2 and the Dreamweaver cache is causing some problems. To correct this you must clean the cache. Take the following steps:

1. Close Dreamweaver and use the file explorer to delete the following file:
   
2. • On Microsoft Windows: [windows_drive]\Documents and Settings\[user_name]\Application data\Macromedia\Dreamweaver 8\Configuration\WinFileCache-XXXXXXXX.dat
   • On Macintosh: Macintosh HD:Users:MAC_User:Library:Application Support:Macromedia:Dreamweaver 8:Configuration: MACFileCache-XXXXXXXX.dat
     Note: replace [windows_drive] with the disk drive where you have installed windows (in most cases this will be the C drive), [user_name] or MAC_User with the name of the logged in user
3. Restart Dreamweaver. Everything should work just fine.

• Recordsets created by NeXTensio for a look-up table are not recognized by Dreamweaver

This happens if you are using a scripting language and a database system that supplies the schema name along the table name. Dreamweaver displays the full name - schema.table format - and because of this it cannot check what table the generated recordset is using. The page will work just fine however.

• How do I upgrade my already generated sites to the secure version of the generated code?
  

In some of our products, along with the Dreamweaver 8.0.2 compatibility fixes, we've also added several improvements regarding page security. We strongly advice you to upgrade your generated code in page, by opening and re-applying all the server behaviors generated by the products listed below:

• I have the old version of InterAKT products (2.8.x). Will this work with Dreamweaver 8.0.2?

We are sorry, but the old version of InterAKT products is no longer compatible with Dreamweaver 8.0.2. If you want to continue working with our tools we advise that you upgrade to the latest version available (MX Kollection 3.6.x). Please check the Upgrade Center in your account to see your special offer.

• I have Dreamweaver MX 6. What version of the InterAKT extensions do I need?

Dreamweaver MX 6 is no longer supported by the latest version of the extensions. Only install the latest ones if you have Dreamweaver MX 2004 or newer.

• I have older versions of the InterAKT extensions. Are they compatible with Dreamweaver 8.0.2?

The only products that are no longer compatible with the updated Dreamweaver 8.0.2 are: MX Kollection 2.x, MX Newsletter and MX Survey.

• How can I uninstall the extensions quicker?

Uninstalling the InterAKT extensions from the Macromedia Extension Manager can take a long time due to their complexity and the uninstall mechanism. Fortunately, there is another way to remove the old version of the extensions and install the new ones. This however implies reinstalling all of the extensions you were using. If you only use InterAKT extensions, or you agree to reinstall the other extensions as well, follow these steps:

1. Close all files inside Dreamweaver and then close Dreamweaver. Also make sure the Extension Manager is closed as well.
2. Using a file manager browse to:
3. 1. On Microsoft Windows: [windows_drive]\Documents and Settings\[user_name]\Application data\Macromedia\Dreamweaver 8 or [windows_drive]\Documents and Settings\[user_name]\Application data\Macromedia\Dreamweaver MX 2004\
   2. On Macintosh: Macintosh HD:Users:MAC_User:Library:Application Support:Macromedia:Dreamweaver 8
4. Rename the Configuration folder - e.g. to Configuration_old - if you want to preserve a back-up copy or delete it.
5. If using Dreamweaver 8, open the Extension Manager. All of the previous extensions will be displayed as disabled. Remove all of them, then close the Extension Manager.
6. Install the new versions of the Dreamweaver Extensions you need.

• Can I still upgrade my extension if I work on Dreamweaver 6.1?

These releases are not compatible with the older, 6.1 version of Dreamweaver. If you are still using this version we would advise to hold of updating your InterAKT extensions.

• Are the InterAKT extensions, version 2, compatible with Dreamweaver 8.0.2?

The old version of the extension (MX Kollection 2.x and the extensions it comprises) are not compatible with Dreamweaver 8.0.2. Please upgrade your InterAKT extensions if you want to work with Dreamweaver 8.0.2
