Technote Details :: I have updated my InterAKT extensions, but Dreamweaver still says they're not updated

Issue

After downloading and installing the latest version of an InterAKT extension, every time I open Dreamweaver it still says that I need to get the latest version. Sometimes the extension name is missing alltogether:

Reason

This happens because some files are not overwritten when updating an extension. These files store the version of the installed product, and if two files with different versions exist - one with the latest, and one with an older version- it will cause the message to appear.

Solution

If you are sure you have the latest version of all products in the message displayed list, or no products are displayed in the list, you can get rid of the error message by following the instructions below:

  1. Close Dreamweaver if it is running.
  2. Browse to this folder:
    1. For Dreamweaver 8: c:\Documents and Settings\[username]\Application Data\Macromedia\Dreamweaver 8\Configuration\Shared\InterAKT\Update\version\
    2. For Dreamweaver MX 2004:
      c:\Documents and Settings\[username]\Application Data\Macromedia\Dreamweaver MX 2004\Configuration\Shared\InterAKT\Update\version\
Note: Replace [username] with the actual name of the account that is logged on.
  3. The Application Data folder is a hidden folder, and you must configure the system to display hidden folders before proceeding:
    • Open a Windows Explorer instance.
    • From the Tools menu select the Folder Options item.
    • Switch to the View tab, and under the Hidden files and folders category check the Display hidden files and folders option
    • Click OK to apply the changes.
  4. Delete the version_x_x_x.xml file with the oldest version.
  5. Restart Dreamweaver. The message will no longer be displayed.
