Technote Details :: Database Connection Issues

Issue

While working on a Dreamweaver site using MX Kollection, I've edited the already created database connection to point to another database. Now the user interfaces does not recognize the edited connection, and I still get the old table structure.

  • Products: All InterAKT extensions that use the database cache.

  • Operating System: All.

  • Server Models: All.

  • Dreamweaver version: any.

Reason

This happens because the table structure is stored locally by the database cache when a Dreamweaver site using MX Kollection 3 is opened. Any changes made during work on the site are not available to the developer as all user interfaces use the cache provided data. The database cache is used to improve performance.

Solution

To solve the problem, you can do one of the following:

  1. After editing the database connection, save the page, close and re-open Dreamweaver. The database cache is re-created once Dreamweaver is started; the new database structure will be available in all user interfaces.

  2. Empty the database cache. Open the InterAKT Control Panel > User Interface Persistence and Database Cache and click the Empty Cache button. This will delete all cache entries, and the new table structure, addressed by the database connection will be available.

Empty the database cache to display changes

  3. Disable the database cache [not recommended]. If you decide not to use the database cache (from InterAKT Control Panel > User Interface Persistence and Database Cache), changes made to the database connection are recognized immediately. However, this will have a negative impact on the performance of MX Kollection 3 Modules.
