I Love InterAKT - Details :: Congratulations and where do we go from here?

This thread was displayed: 1,777 times

Starting with 17th May 2007, Adobe Systems will stop offering support for any version of the discontinued InterAKT products. As a result, we will not answer to new support incidents starting with May 17th, 2007. Pending support incidents will still be followed in order to be closed. The product forums will remain open and be transformed in user-to-user forums. The general forums will be made read-only and not allow new posts or comments.

For more information about the affected products visit: www.interaktonline.com/Support/

Hey guys,

Many Congratulations on achieving your goal and being bought out by Adobe.  A reward for all of your hard work!

In my opinion though, sad for the InterAKT community.  We are now stuck with a mega monolith for support and any new products,  a company that generally writes software that is their way or the highway, a restricted set of flexibility, especially compared to our InterAKT tools.

I continue to use the InterAKT products that I purchased and intend to do so until my computer no longer runs them.  As a result I am still finding useful information in the forums and the tutorials.

I cannot afford to buy them from you/Adobe but is there anyway that the InterAKT community can retain access to, or get and host ourselves, the forum and tutorials? (Your products will outlive the 6 months of access being provided.)  I would be willing to provide hosting for them.

As a member of the community, I'd hate to see us loose this knowledge base.  And, in my opinion, whatever grassroot community continues should have the knowledge base that we have supported both financially, technically and otherwise.

I hope you have the option to consider passing on this knowledge base rather than having it disappear into the void.  Please consider the cost involved for all of us to retool our development environments when we have to discard our InterAKT products, which will eventually happen if there is a lack of support available.

I doubt that many of us would pay Adobe for access to this information, although they might get some bonus points for allowing us to retain this knowledge base.

Thanks for your time and consideration.

OK, sorry I just found the other discussion thread re this general topic and myinterak.com

Still the offer stands to host the forum and tutorials if they need to leave your environment, possession.  Let me know how I can help.

Thanks.

I agree with Kim.  InterAKT products will live much longer than the 6 months given.  I, too, will run them until my computer won;t run them anymore.  Shame on Adobe for killing a great company that delivered very useful extentions......and Adobe has no better offer to replace them.  Shame on Adobe!!

I have to say I have absolutely nothing bu praise for the way interAKT has helped me. I am fairly new to using the extensions, but have had them around for at least two years. I always intended learning how to use them and somehow never got around to it.

That all changed this year when I had to build a site very quickly with functionality I couldn't have done on my own. The MXKollection has saved my bacon.

On top of that he support has been superb - always polite, always timely... I know some folk may disagree, but I cannot praise the team at InterAKT highly enough... my experience has been excellent.

The most important thing for me to be able to access, apart from the forums, is the online help system... it is a real gem and gives so much information. Is there a downloadable version that I haven't seen? I work on a Mac and so the compiled HTML books are a bit of a pain, and the ones that come with the extensions are just about getting started... is there any way we can save the online system and host that? I would willingly add it to a server here if at all possible.

Hi Hal,

Unfortunatelly we have only created the documentation in CHM and the Flash Help format online - actually they both use the same sources, they are just compiled differently. On a Macintosh I believe you can use CHMox to read compiled HTML files. Creating and maintaining another format for the documentation would have been very time-consuming. You can get the CHM files from each product's documentation page.

Hope this helps,
Cristian

P.S. Thanks for the praise :)
