  1. What is JSEclipse?

    JSEclipse is the the best and most popular Javascript plugin for the Eclipse environment. Designed  to help web developers edit JavaScript files with ease, it has built in support for:

    • Common idioms used in JavaScript and major libraries like Dojo and Prototype.

  2. Why should I use JSEclipse?

    Some of the main features are code completion for javascript and javadoc like comments for javascript, smart outline panel, code templates, find method declaration, error and warning reporting, code wrap and many more.


  3. Why are all javascript files read-only?

    The files are read only because they are not part of any project. JSEclipse uses a project to provide code completion. You should create a project first. To create a project to work with you must go to menu path File/New/Project and select Simple/Project. To create a Javascript file you should go to menu path File/New/File and just name your file with the .js extension.


  4. JSEclipse doesn't start or throws an error

    Several reasons might prevent JSEclipse to properly start. These are discussed in more detail in the technotes section.


  5. What is Eclipse?

    Eclipse is an open source community that focuses on development platforms and frameworks. Eclipse provides extensible tools and frameworks that span the software development life cycle, including support for modeling, language development environments for Java, C/C++ and others, testing and performance, business intelligence, rich client applications and embedded development. As it works in the Open source environment, these platforms are very extensible, allowing integration for third party tools and plugins. One of these plugins is JSEclipse.
