MX Kollection Forum :: ADDT DEAD

This thread was displayed: 0 times

Starting with 17th May 2007, Adobe Systems will stop offering support for any version of the discontinued InterAKT products. As a result, we will not answer to new support incidents starting with May 17th, 2007. Pending support incidents will still be followed in order to be closed. The product forums will remain open and be transformed in user-to-user forums. The general forums will be made read-only and not allow new posts or comments.

For more information about the affected products visit: www.interaktonline.com/Support/

What does "officially dead" mean?  I am still using MXKollections, although I am transitioning to an MVC product called CodeIgniter.  Anyone here in a similar fix?

Gunter did an amazing job helping ALL of us out over these past years... (is it years already?)... and I thank him.

Adobe continues to shoot themselves in the foot, and us in the head, torso, heart, take your pick.  Im disgusted with them.   I have been learning some of the webassist tools, which are also complex, but actually not that bad.

I would like to hear from members of the original Interakt company and ask if Adobe has you wrapped up in non compete clauses that would provent you from brings Kollections back to life as  new product or a revived one.

I agree with all comments related to Adobe shooting themselves in the foot in killing it and have that any alternatives to Kollections are either too intensive in terms of the learning curve or as many have suggested do not provide enough documentation and hence waste time in development.

As IE8 and windows 7 start to take over there are a lot of little niggles that don't work from MXKollection, things that never got updated properly even in the latest ADDT 1.0.1. Don't forget since Adobe took over no development has been done to this extension only compatability updates, in essence it has stood still while the rest of the web community has moved on.

Adobe are not interested in small developers like us, they are only interested in bigger company's which can purchase a dozen licenses for there products and company's like that have dedicated coders who would not use an extension like this.

What sickens me more is that I had just purchased the complete suite

I had copies of parts and legit elements too, but liked it so much I bought the full suite with Kollection, Kart etc

3 Months later they pulled the plug and, as far as i'm concerned, screwed me over (KTML been the worst loss of all for me)

I have bought the full webassist suite, but just do not like the way it works, its too template oriented and doesnt offer me the control I want

Adobe need to wake up and stop screwing people around.

Would it help at all if we started a petition requesting adobe support/life lines to interakt extensions. We can do this in an adobe forum on thier site so that its visible to others. But for it to work - we would really need to have enough people to make a valid rukus.

My mom always said "the squeaky wheel gets the oil" so lets squeak. But we need to squeak loud enough to get attention from adobe.

It is a good idea but even if you take into account that interakt had around 3000 customers, even if each of them purchased ADDT at full price ($300) that would come to $900,000 in a one off payment. Considering Adobe had a turn over of nearly $2.6bn ADDT seams a very small fry. So I applaud your efforts but I think no matter how loud we shout, it will just fall on deaf ears.

There was a petition, regarding Adobe's European prices, here:

http://www.gopetition.com/petitions/fair-pricing-for-european-software.html

It seems that Adobe at least acknowledged it (but I doubt if they took much notice). There were over 10,000 'signatures'. It might be worth setting up a petition here as there is a mechanism in place and it's easy to sign-up. It might help that it's more public than the ADDT forum. However it would be difficult to get hold of the contact details of current users. I have no idea how many users there are now.

Sadly the people who make these decisions have little understanding of what is they are destroying and probably don't care anyway. I expect it must sadden the original developers, but they have been paid-off and presumably have no say in the matter.

I agree

I think it would be a waste of time

Unfortunately we seem to be in gap in the market

With joomla, drupal etc its hard to fight

It's very worrying for me as most of my CMS sites use interakt code for the admin

I'm not entirely sure what I'll do now! Drupal ahoy? More generic over-complicated admin for my users?
