Q:  Why did Adobe acquire InterAKT? 

A:  Adobe acquired InterAKT to enhance existing product lines, including Macromedia Dreamweaver and Adobe Flex. The new development center will also provide Adobe with greater access to and expertise in the Eastern European market.

Q:  What is the upgrade offer for current InterAKT customers?

A:  InterAKT's primary product, Kollection bundle, has been replaced by Adobe® Dreamweaver® Developer Toolbox, which is available for download through the Adobe Store. Existing owners of Kollection are eligible for a free upgrade to this new bundle. To claim your Adobe Dreamweaver Developer Toolbox serial number, please login on your InterAKT account (www.interaktonline.com) and visit the Downloads/My Products section (www.interaktonline.com/Downloads/My-Products/).

Owners of MX Kollection or MX Kollection Pro are eligible for a discount to Adobe Dreamweaver Developer Toolbox. Instructions on obtaining the discounted upgrade will be sent by e-mail as soon as the process has been finalized.

Q:  I have some of your products, can I still download them?

A:  Your products are available for download in the My Account section of InterAKT's website, www.interaktonline.com. You still have access to your previous versions.

Q:  What happens to my existing support incidents?

A: If you have open support incidents, our support team will be happy to help you.

Q:  What if I need support on a new issue?

A: Starting with 17th May 2007, Adobe Systems will discontinue support for all versions of the discontinued InterAKT products. As a result, we will not accept new support incidents starting with May 17th, 2007. Pending support incidents will be completed. The product forums will remain open and be transformed in user-to-user forums. The general forums will be made read-only and not allow new posts or comments.

Q: How long will I be able to download my products from your website?

A: You can still download your products from your account for the next 6 months. After this period, if you will need again a copy, you will get it from us on a request-basis.

Q:  Which products are being continued, and which are being discontinued?

A: All other InterAKT products will be discontinued, including:

  • Kollection
  • MX Kollection Pro
  • MX Kollection
  • KTML
  • MX CSS Menus
  • MX Kommerce
  • MX AJAX Toolbox
  • MX CSV Import-Export

MyFeedz and JSEclipse will be posted on Adobe Labs.

Q: What happened with MX AJAX Toolbox, released at the beginning of August 2006?

The AJAX Toolbox is not currently being sold as we are working with Adobe to coordinate its capabilities with the Adobe Spry framework.

Q: How do I activate the discontinued products?

A: The activation process of our products, even for the discontinued products, will remain the same, and you will be able to activate your products anytime you will need it.

Q:  Will InterAKT's products be sold on Adobe.com?

A:  All InterAKT products have been discontinued. The Kollection bundle has been replaced by Adobe Dreamweaver Developer Toolbox, which is available for download through the Adobe Store. You can find our free products available either on our site or on the Adobe Exchange / Adobe Labs.

Q:  What are the primary benefits of this acquisition to Adobe customers?

A:  Customers benefit from our expanded ability to innovate.  With additional development resources - from a team with a proven entrepreneurial track record - we can bring even more innovation to our Web designer and developer communities.  And we expect the capabilities of specific product lines like Dreamweaver and Flex to be enhanced through the integration of InterAKT technologies.

Q:  What new capabilities does the acquisition bring to Adobe's engineering teams?

A:  The InterAKT team has significant PHP, Ajax, and Java expertise that will benefit a number of Adobe's existing product teams.

Q:  Will InterAKT's technologies be incorporated into new or existing Adobe products?

A: We see strong opportunities for InterAKT's technologies to enhance Dreamweaver's application development capabilities. We also expect their assets will expand the Flex tools and framework.

Q:  How do developers/partners benefit?

A:  The InterAKT team will initially focus on helping expand and execute on our Dreamweaver and Flex development agendas.

Q:  Does Adobe see Eastern Europe as a growth market?

A:  Yes, we believe there is significant business expansion potential for Adobe.

Q:  Will Adobe make other investments in Eastern Europe? 

A:  We're not making any other announcements about investment plans today, but we do plan to grow this R&D operation over time.

Q: What Adobe products will be developed at the new facility?

A: The initial focus will be in support of Adobe's Dreamweaver and Flex products and technologies.

Q:  How many employees did InterAKT have?

A: InterAKT had 32 employees.

Q: Will there be layoffs associated with this acquisition?

A:  We expect that most current InterAKT employees will remain with Adobe following the integration.

Q:  Did InterAKT have a large customer base, and what type of businesses are they?

A:  The InterAKT customer-base consists of more than 8,500 companies, primarily small Web businesses in the US and UK.

Q:  What's the expected impact of the acquisition on Adobe's revenue and expenses over time? 

A:  We do not expect this acquisition to have a material financial impact on the company, and we are not making any financial projections related to the acquisition.
